Greta’s 2nd tooth

After a lot of wiggling and encouraging - especially form Uncle Scott... she finally did it and pulled out her 2nd tooth.

We were at Dads house for Christmas and the kids were outside for some fresh air when she came running in, with sheer excitement.

She wrote a nice letter to the tooth fairy - Luna - and the next morning she got $5.

Christmas 2019

I love Christmas. I love planning. I love the anticipation. I love the girls excitement. I love it.

This year was the last year of just 2 kids - next year will be way different with the new baby.

A few highlights from all the fun.

Christ Our King Christmas Program

So proud of both girls at the Christmas program. Lola had 1 like and Greta had 3 and both did great. They also sang lots of songs and knew all the words.

New floors

You know you are getting older when you are excited for new flooring and carpet. It was a long process because we changed our mind the day of install. But I’m so happy we did. Forced a lot of cleaning. Some new office furniture. Finally moved the girls upstairs.  All in all, it looks awesome and I’m so glad we did it!

Happy Halloween 2019

It rained. It snowed. The wind blew amid around. It was miserable. But we still went out. The had so many layers on I didn’t even get a good picture of them all. The kids had fun until they were frozen and done. Then we went back and hung out and the kids ate way too much candy. Good times!!

This is our 1 year anniversary of friendship! Or so we celebrate it!

Survived 2019 Soccer Season

Well I survived another year of coaching soccer... this year both girls’ teams, while about 5 months pregnant. I had lots of fun though.

Lola’s team was great. All girls - which I’m way better at coaching - and good fun attitudes. We even played a game at the end and the girls did great. Lola ven scored. I think she’s going to do just fine in sports.

This year great moves up to U8 and did great too. She found her speciality which is defense I think and was force to be recon with. Our team overall didnt do the best, only winning 1 game but we improved each week and I hope they had fun.

Now to see if I finally hang up my hat coaching Greta. I’ll for sure do Lola again.

Football Saturday

Well it finally worked out and all 4 of us went to the Michigan game with mom. We had soccer in the morning and left a little early for the noon game. After we left soccer, the whole way to the stadium, Greta complained her belly hurt and she didn’t feel good. I shrugged it off. And by the time we got to ir parking spot I was mad at her for complaining. Mistake #1.

We got into the stadium. Went to the bathroom. For some food and drinks. And headed to our seats. Greta still complaining. Mistake #2.

Sit down. Get organized. Greta is on my lap. She said mommy I think I have to puke. In my mind I think yeah right. Mistake #3.

Because seconds later, she pukes all over me, herself and the floor in front of us. Seriously!?! Luckily I had a different shirt for her. So clean up myself and her and then try to figure out what to do. Nice guy behind us gives us napkins. I’m trying to hide the fact she just puked.

Ryan agrees to take her home. Lola and I will stay with mom and then come home after the game. He takes her home, she eats lunch  and is fine. So lesson learned... she didn’t feel good from all the running at soccer. Had I given her a few minutes to sit down and regroup, we would have been fine I think.

Oh the memories! But for Lola it was a great day! She loved all the attention and had so much fun!

Greta's First Lost Tooth

Big day at the Delaney's!  Greta finally lost a tooth.  She has been so wanting to as so many of her friends have already lost several teeth.  But when you don't get your first tooth until you at 13 months, you have to be patient.

For the last while, she's said that her tooth has been loose, but I really couldn't see it.  Then Thursday night at dinner she was crying because it hurt.  Again, I didn't quite sense the urgency that it was going to fall out.  But she showed me and I thought, it still has a while to go.

But the next morning, 6 am, she came running into my room and said look how wiggling it is.  I tried to open my eyes and see it but just couldn't so I say - oh yeah!  Wow!  Then 5 minutes later she came running back in holding her tooth!  She pulled it out all by herself!!  I was so proud and also relieved because I don't like to pull out teeth - at all.

Happy Mother’s Day 2019

When you become a mother, your entire world changes. You find out what truly being selfless means. You find out what laughing and crying at the same time is like. You find out how to get through the day when you’re sleep deprived and exhausted. And you find out what unconditional love is.

But you know what else you find out - how to laugh. So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite funny motherhood memories - well they are funny now anyway.

1) Figuring out how to use a breast pump - doesn’t seem hard but looking back it was maybe the funniest time.
2) Getting puked on. This never gets old and really isn’t funny but I’d catch their puke any day if it could make them feel better.
3) Lola’s blow out at my work - all over my pants - in my boss’s office
4) How they mispronounce words - my favorite was Greta saying com-marshmellow for commercial. We still giggle about it today
5) When Lola dumped sprinkles all over the kitchen and was playing in them
And so many more that I can’t think of - part of motherhood not remembering everything.

You also find your tribe of moms to help you. I am a firm believer it take a village and I’m so happy with the moms in mine. They love my kids and that’s what matters to me. Oh and maybe if they are fun and like the occasional glass of wine helps too!

So as I continue on this adventure called motherhood - I have to remind myself to enjoy it. Be in the moment. And live!

So to the ones that made me a mommy - I love you.

To the one that gave me life - I love you!

Like mother like daughter

So I embarked on my next coaching endeavor. I am coaching Gretas’s T-ball team. 10 girls on the team. And I feel like I’m back in my element actually coaching a sport that I love. And Greta is wearing my number 10 - another perk of being the coach’s daughter!

We had our first game last night and a few lessons that I have learned.

1) Greta hates running as much as I did when I played softball.
2) five and six-year-olds like practice more than games as there is much more action
3) if you are enthusiastic, they will be enthusiastic
4) never show fear, they are like dogs and can smell it
5) praise, high-fives and encourage
6) coaching your own child is harder than coaching any other kid on the team
7) always hold the batter’s bat when you are near them. Already one hit to the head and it did not feel good
8) there is progress after each practice and game
9) snacks are still the bets motivator
10) never take things to seriously!

Can’t wait for a great season!
