Oh sweet girl! You make me smile!

Family date night

I had the great idea we show go out to a Japanese restaurant where they cook in front of you. The girls will love it. Right?

Wrong.

When the chef started, he made a fire
On the grill. Cool. Right?

Wrong! Lola screamed a terrifying scream I've never heard before and Greta cried too. Then every time there was smoke Lola got nervous and said "ooo, hot. Smoke. Mama." And cried a little.

Greta liked it a little but didn't overly love it. By the end she warmed up a little and used her chop sticks.

All in all my fun experience turned into getting the girls to not cry in shear terror.

Here's to a better family date night next month.

Moving on up

Finally they are moving Greta up. All the teachers and staff decided she was bored. And I totally agree. So up to Junior 3 we go. They really start working on strokes and all that stuff so we'll see how this goes.

Also big news... Lola is starting swimming this week too. Mommy and me class! Unfortunately the only time the 2 classes were at the sane time was Friday at 2 - ugh. Oh we are on a waiting list so hopefully a better time opens up.

Farewell Equinox

On Monday, Ryan and I went to pick up the new truck and I started to get sad thinking about getting rid of my car. I'm not sure why but it brought a tear to my eye.

Then I started thinking about all the firsts that happened in that car
- I drove to my first of many dates with Ryan (I bought it the day before our first date)
- we picked up Miller in that car
- my water broke for Greta as I was literally stepping out of the car
- we brought both girls home in that car
- and many more

It was a great car! And I'll miss it. But now don't mess me because i drive a beast!

Mamas got a brand new car

Haha! That title mad me laugh. After a bad experience and more than a hour of wasted time I'll never get back (even though I did get $30 gift card to target)... we went home and started talking Ford. I know, even with a hobby that works there I never thought I would actually drive one daily.

But we drive it. Liked it. Had great incentives. Good trade in for the pickup and my equinox.  Topped off by Ryan's Ford discount. And the thought that we could all 4 people + 1 dog could all go someplace in one car - made it too good to pass up.

So we bought it.

"I can't"

So lately Greta has been saying "I can't" a lot. I'm wasn't sure where it was coming from but figured it out this week after Greta had her worst swimming lesson.

In her class is a boy from school. Super sweet and great family. But he doesn't enjoy swimming and his parents tell me and grandparents (who bring him)tell me. But They love that Greta love swimming and is a good influence.

Well this week Greta decided she can't swim, which is something this little boy says all the time... and now I figured out he says it to Greta too. Greta can swim at least 10 feet but this week she would go only about 2 and then sink. She kept telling the teachers she can't. Might be time for new class.

After swimming, we had a big talk about saying "I can't" and that isn't something we say. And that we have to try our best and that's all mommy asks for. But can't isn't something we should say.

It's so frustrating as a parent to see your kid not do something they are clearly capable of. And also scary how much influence kids have on each other - even at 3 years old.

Lola's first karaoke

Lola cracks us all up. Tonight she discovers the microphone and started talking and singing. Caught this quick video.

Lola's potty trained. Say what!!?

So this past week, Lola has been regally interested i the potty. We always go at night before bath but now she's going all day on the potty and has had a dry diaper all day for three last 3 days. And is even pooping on the potty.

So dare I say it... Lola's potty trained?!

Cabin Fun for New Years

The is just something fun and magical about being in a place with fresh white snow and beautiful scenery and good company.

Greta and Lola were in heaven riding with Papa on the gator.

Ryan and I got to ride a few times on the 4-wheeler just us.

And miller had a great time with his buddy Hunter.

We also tried something new - snowboating. And had a great time. Dad pulled us around in an old boat behind the gator. I think Lola loved it the best.

Ryan and Jason also had to give it a try but man style.

We ate lots. Laughed lots. Watched football. Played Mexican train. And rang in the new year. We all made it to midnight too! Go us.

Here's to a great 2017 with new amazing adventures and lots of love.

Christmas Part 2

After the festivities at our house, we headed to Unionville for part 2. We started at Julie and Jason's with perch. Then headed to moms for presents and snacking. Lots of snacking. We were all so blessed.

Then the 26th, we had a relaxed day and fondued and then played lots of games. And lots of playing with new toys.

That night is when the madness started. About 1230 my stomach started feeling upset. 230 am puking starts and continues til 430. Then it switches gears and lasts all morning. Ugh! But I toughen up and head to Frankenmuth for our last party with the Ewald side. Glad I went, bummed I felt like death. Good news the next day woke up and felt like a new woman!

Get times celebrating with family!

Christmas at home

I've been so excited for Christmas at our house when Santa comes. Greta finally gets it and with all the elf excitement it was building to the big night.

Lots of wrapping and preparations... and so worth it. Even though it goes by so quickly.

We went to church at 630 (not 6 which is what I thought). Then came home and out on our new Christmas Jammie's - the whole family - and made pizzas. Then opened some presents. Finally we put out cookies and milk for Santa. Some carrots and reindeer food for the reindeer. And to bed we went. Everything was ready.

The next morning about 615, Greta came into our room and crawled into bed and asked if I thought Santa came. I said we'd have to go see when Lola woke up. Luckily that wasn't too much longer.

So fun watching her!

We then opened presents. Put presents together. Played with presents. Had some coffee cake and bacon. And loaded up the sleigh to headed to Unionville.

There is just something so special about the joy of Christmas and seeing it through a child's eyes. I can't wait for many many morning Christmas mornings!

Christmas Part 1

For the Delaney Christmas this year, we headed to Fort Wayne. Plans didn't go according to plan but we made the best if it and still got to spend some great time together. And Rebecca is healing after breaking her arm. She was a trooper the entire time.

Greta had lots of fun playing with Colin and Evan. We all did. We had a snow ball fight. Went sledding. Played Mario Cart - which I think I had a slight addiction by the end of our stay.

Jen, Ian, Ryan and I even got to go out for dinner and drinks to celebrate Ian's 40th. So fun having a little adult time.

In true Danish fashion, we had mandel and danced around the Christmas tree. Greta even sang along for a few songs, which was fun to see.

A great start to the Christmas festivities! And lots of wonderful memories.
