10 months old

Every day something new. I'd say that's the theme for Greta this past month.

Her top 10
1) can say mama
2) can sign more - uses it a lot even eating
3) walks smoothly behind her waking toys and can stand not holding anything
4) eats big people food and loves it
5) knows how to work her humidifier - loves turning it on and off
6) favorite toy is her big baby (or my old big baby) - loves dolls of all kinds
7) has taken a couple headers that left her with a bruised forehead
8) uses her pointer finger
9) says ut oh
10) knows her tongue and loves sticking it out

Still no teeth but her hair is definitely growing. Can't believe how much she's grown and look forward to every day with her.

Getting a picture with her sticker is proving more and more challenging. This is the best I could get.

Dolls

Greta has taken a real liking to dolls - at home and school. At home she has big baby and will hug and kiss her. And poke her eyes. Pat her back. So so cute.

Well at school she loves the baby dolls too. And her feedback from day care today was too cute not to share.

Thanking God

Greta and I went back to Mott's Childerens hospital yesterday for her to get a sweat test to check for cystic fibrosis. They hooked her up to a little battery pack machine to stimulate the sweat glands. 2 on each arm for 5 minutes. Then the put this watch like thing on bott her wrist that collected the sweat. Then we waited 30 minutes. So we played. She nursed. Read books. .

Lalala. Beep beep beep. Timer went off! We're done. Our great tech said that he can't give the results out but no news is good news. Seriously! I was supposed to just wait to find out if she has it

Well after the test, our great nurse tech guy (I won't mention his name) walked us to the elevator. He said we didn't hear it from him but the results were negative!! What a great man. He has 2 daughters so must have sensed my nerves of waiting! Well at least we know she doesn't have that and that is a huge relief to me!

Tough cookie

Well in learning to crawl, stand up and walk, Greta has experienced a few not do graceful slips which have left her with a nice bruise on her forehead. I think she keeps hitting the same spot because she only has one bruise but has face planted it several times.

Tears are always shed but we brush it off and play on. She's one tough cookie!

Here a pix of the bruise and Greta enjoying some hummus for dinner.

Baby food, baby food and more baby food

Trying to make sure Greta is getting the proper food for her age is crazy. So much to read and learn and it doesn't help that she doesn't have any teeth yet.

But non the less I forged on and this weekend read up and then started making baby food.

Super porridge which ground up black eyes peas and steel oats - not liking yet - will try with navy beans next time

Hard boiled eggs - yolk only- loves them

Chicken - ground up in my little food grinder to make finner pieces - loves

Apple, squash and chicken purée - will eat off a big person spoon but not a baby spoon

Squash, kale, and chicken purée - she hasn't tried yet but will get tonight

Noodles - loves

Cheese - loves

Tofu - bought but haven't given to her yet

Here's to hoping she grows up liking all kinds of food.

Crying in church

Well it was bound to happen and this morning everyone knew we were in church. Greta bonked her head and the chair and the proceeded to tell everyone in the church what happened. Then after church several people said something to us. Like that sounded like a hurt cry. Oh my! Well at least they know she's a real baby.

First words

So I'm going with Greta's first word as mamma per the video evidence. (To be posted soon).

She can also sign more and say mo mo (Greta talk for more). Dadda is pretty much there too.

Look out now... She's going to be talking up a storm before I know it. Growing up too fast!

A visit to the specialist

So not a day I was looking forward to but good to talk to the experts and know. Since Greta has had pneumonia twice and croup twice, out doctor recommend we go see a pediatric pulmonologist. So off to Motts Children's Hospital we went. We saw a great doctor who really don't see anything alarming. So that was good. Asked lots if questions and I answered them. Got another chest X-ray so she could compare to a normal.

Greta was a trooper through it all today.

Got a sticker!

So what next? Well Greta is going to a sweat test to rule off cystic fibrosis which was the doctor was quite certain she doesn't have but wanted to confirm. Then we will follow up in 4 months unless she gets pneumonia again. Then we will go back sooner for more tests.

Thankful to God nothing serious is wrong and will keep praying she stays healthy.

Little stinker

Greta love electronics.  Remotes, computers, phones.  All the good stuff that she shouldn't have.  Monday when I was snowed in, Greta stayed with me... yeah it's not so easy to work with a 9 month old.  Good thing for naps so I was able to get my work done.

Love her collection under her exersaucer

This was the face after I told her no.

I got it!

Crazy weekend

Well the weekend started great with our sleepover friends - K & K and grandma. Bagels and eggs and bacon bowls (yeah infomercial is a lie).

We played in the snow

The kids organized a toy sale for Greta- woah does that kid have toys.

Then the madness started. I wanted a new dishwasher. So off to the Sears outlet in Taylor we went. Nothing. Then to Sears in Ann Arbor. No black in stock and we really wanted to buy. So off to ABC Warehouse. They didn't have a one we wanted in black, but the Brighyon store did. So off we went. A quick stop at TGI Fridays for dinner then home.

Well Sunday more we awoke to snow and I awoke to food poisoning. The most miserable day I've had since having the flu awhile back when I was preggo.  So Greta and I took two nice naps in bed that day and I took many a trips to the bathroom. Ryan kept busy and installed the dishwasher and did round 1 of plowing.

Today feeling 100x better but was snowed in.

9 months old

Wow!!  I just can't believe that Greta is already 9 months.  I just want to freeze her at this age.  She's so fun and has such a cheerful personality.

Her stats.. 22 pounds and 1 ounce (90th percentile), 29 inches long (88th percentile) and 18 inch head circumference (93rd percentile).

Her top 10

1) Is completely mobile.
2) Can pull herself up on everything and anything - even if it's not strong enough.
3) Still no teeth (I'm okay with that - haha)
4) Blabs and chats a lot
5) Is full of smiles, smiles and more smiles
6) Rarely cries, unless she's really tired or hungry
7) Celebrated her first Christmas and loves the Christmas tree and all the ornaments. Luckily, none are broke.  Also met Santa for the first time and did not care for him.
8) New foods she's tried - ice cream, jello, mangos (didn't like at all), yogurt, summer squash
9) Got pneumonia and croup again, less dramatic diagnosis this time, but we are going to see a specialist on the 14th.
10)  Mimics your facial expressions with sounds like coughing and laughing.  She can definitely crack herself up.

Love this girl more than life itself!

Getting a picture of her laying down with her 9 month sticker has proven challenging - so picture coming as soon as I can get her to lay still - lol.

Update:  Well I got a picture but as you can tell it's not her happiest - lol.
