Germs have taken over

I'm not sure what it is about this year, but the germs seem to have the upper hand at our house.  Ryan and I both started coming down with something shortly after Thanksgiving, and it's still here.  Germs - you are not welcome here.  Please leave so I can breathe again!

Ewald Thanksgiving

The weather for this Thanksgiving just might have been the best I can remember - sunny and about 60... we even had the door open a little during dinner.  Mom cooked up a feast, Julie and Mary made some desserts and I ate everything.  Haha!  We even got Grandpa to come over and now that I think about it - I should have taken some pictures.

Thanksgiving evening, Julie, Dad and Scott headed to Caro to do a little Black Friday (well Black Thanksgiving) shopping.  And got everything they wanted at Sears.  And then we all gathered around the TV and watched  Christmas Vacation.  I tried to stay awake but just couldn't.  Oh well I'm sure we'll watch it 10 more times.  We even finished Thanksgiving off with a few fireworks!

Black Friday morning, Ryan and I called on a gun safe that we had seen in the Menards add for sale.  And to our luck they had lots left.  So off to Bay City we went with Dad.  The store wasn't even too bad so we managed to pick up a few other things.  Then off to antiquing as I mentioned in the other post.  Then back home.

The night Karle read some books to the baby - love that.  She is going to be a great big cousin.  Then Ryan and I went over to Julie and Jason's to hang out.  Julie and I in the house and the boys in the new shed.  A long night for some, but a good Saturday morning.

Some Michigan football and then some tetris to get all our purchases into the truck.  Didn't happen, but we got close.

But we made it home safe and sound and everything now has a new home!

Antiquing

Our new fun hobby- looking for cool antiques. Well this week we hit the jack pot. First stop was in Birch Run at Around the Farm with we love. Our purchase - 2 cool traffic lights - one with a John Deere sticker and one with a Chevrolet sticker. Will look great in the barn.

Then Black Friday, Ryan and I did more antiquing with dad in Bay City. Our purchases (yes more than 1) include an old school desk with a fold down chair and and a table behind it. My choice. Then Ryan's eye was caught by an old Pepsi venting machine. After a price he couldn't refuse - sold! The desk fit in the truck but the vending machine had to wait for the 2nd trip.

Random night out

Our good friends Jason and Christie sent us a text asking what we were doing Tuesday night.  Guys in suits and girls in dresses and they were picking us up.  Ooo, how fun!  Of course we were in!  We weren't sure what we were celebrating but we were glad we were.

We got all dressed up.  The group picked us up about 8 in a limo and off we went.  Shortly after figured we were going to Ann Arbor.  Ended up at the Grange Kitchen for dinner and their big announcement that Christie has accepted a job at St. Joe and they would be staying!  We were all so excited!  And such a great way to announce it!

Delaney Thanksgiving

A wonderful weekend in Greenwood for Thanksgiving with lots to be thankful for.  Amazing loving family.  Great conversation.  Wonderful food.  Beautiful fall weather.  Good traffic on the way home.  A healthy baby on the way (ultrasound went good).  Loved spending an early Thanksgiving weekend with the Delaney's.

The Martha Steward of everything wonderful.  I am still stuffed from this weekend.

Her assistants helping make the sweet potatoes.

I think this is predinner relaxing

Baby's Room painted

Well we bought the bedding and I had the urge to paint the baby's room... so painted I did today.  And I realized that I don't enjoy painting pregnant as much as I do painting not pregnant.  Up and down the ladder isn't as much fun, making sure I don't fall off the ladder isn't fun, and how I feel after painting all day definitely isn't fun.  But nontheless... it's finished and I love it.  Just need some furniture now.

The before... a yellow color

The after Corn husk green (even though the lighting doesn't make it look very different... it is) and it looks great.  Also check out our bedding... so many great colors to work with.

Ryan's Tree Trimming Service

Thanks to voter's day Ryan got off Tuesday to vote and to make the most of it, he also took Monday off to get some work done around the property.

He cut down and chopped up 6 trees and these were not small threes.  He also pulled all the plants out of the garden so it's ready to rototill for next year.  Hint Hint Dad!  We still don't have one of those.

Then he also had himself a huge bonfire!

Sugar Beet Harvest

Ryan and I ventured to Unionville for some sugar beet harvest, and I'm so glad we did.  It turned out to be a great weekend and we stayed until Sunday.  Friday night got to ride in the field in the dark which is always such a cool experience.  Then Saturday, we got up and headed back out to the field to ride.  Ryan rodes lots with Jason and then took his first trip to the factory. Took a break to go to Grandpa's for lunch with Aunt Judy and Uncle Larry - Aunt Judy made my fav casserole.  Then back out to help switch fields.  And then more riding!

Saturday, Julie brought out dinner for everyone and then I left with her to go warm up and eat our dinner.  Ryan stayed out and got his first training in beeting tops.  He loved  it so much that he stayed out until 1:00 am until Mom got to go home.

Sunday, morning we loaded up and then went out to the field to ride a bit and say good-bye.  Ryan got back in and did some topping and I rode with Dad, until the harvest blew a hydraulic hose.  Then I got to ride with Ryan in the beet and mom rode with Dad in the harvestor.  Mom took off to get parts and Ryan and I finished topping most of the field.  Then we took a truck back to the farm and hit the rode about 11:30.  A little later than planned, but I think Ryan found his new calling -farming!
