Fair Fun 2018

For the past 3 years, I've taken the girls to the fair.  And each year they just love it - so I decided to write a list of why I love the Saline County Fair.

Why I love the fair?
  1. The smiles on their faces
  2. Fair food - elephant ears to be exact
  3. The rides - personally I don't care for them, but Greta especially loves that.  And Lola did her best to try them all.  She did not love them like Greta.
  4. Seeing all the animals.
  5. The smiles when they see the animals - makes me want more on RAD Farms, but then I snap out of it.
  6. People watching - it's amazing at the fair
  7. Pony rides
  8. Ice cream making - yes your hands burn with frost bite after but the first cream is yummy and it was made with Pioneer sugar.
  9. all the great stuff we haven't seen yet - bull riding, derby - all great stuff for when the girls are a little bigger
  10. Seeing what they can do if they want to do 4H - which I didn't but I think Greta will definitely want to do.

Fine Print... Yes Lola looks very scared in some of the pictures and videos..  No I did not force her to go on the rides.  Yes she was fine after.

Miss Sophie Farewell

We had the joy of having Miss Sophie around all summer and this week she headed back to MSU for school.  The girls made her signs and get her a few little gifts.  They were definitely sad to see her go and a few days later asked when she was coming back.

And so sweet - Sophie printed off all the pictures she had taken of the girls all summer.  Some great ones that I hadn't seen before - so thoughtful!

Hopefully we'll see her soon!

Last Arcadia Trip

Well I think we finally went on our last trip to Arcadia for 2018... and fun we had.

The girls and I did a little kayaking.  The water was arm to swim or tolerate it.  Lots of bike riding.  Camp with grandma.  Dancing.  Fun with friends.

One small incident with Greta where she ran away from the teacher during more class.  Something happened and it really upset Greta and mommy was the only one that could help and fix it.  So she took off.  Luckily a nice camp worker stayed with her (even though couldn't convince her) and then mom finally got to her. All good and so out of character for Greta - still not sure what happened.

Bike Riding Girl

After so much bribing, convincing, pressuring and good old fashion forcing - I finally got Greta to ride her 2 wheeler... all by herself!

It was so fun to watch her progression.  I decided end of spring she could do it... well maybe that was too soon, but I had confidence in her and we kept practicing.  She finally got it a few times on the porch (short track) and then at dad's - did it a bit more... and finally up north.  She mastered it!  Can start and stop on her own and only occasionally need a little push to get started.

The best part was that she was so proud of herself!  Maybe more than I was of her.  So we rode our bikes to church, camp, and all over town.  Then when we came home we went on our first bike ride - well I ran to keep up with Greta, and Ryan walked to help Lola on her bike.

So much fun we're going to have now going on bike rides!

Birthday Fun for Lola

A fun day for Lola's big 3.

Greta and Ryan decorated the house with Paw Patrol - Lola's choice

Donut breakfast with a candle

Presents - her first question when she woke up was where's my bike - that's the one thing she kept asking for.

Lunch with grandma and mommy at IHOP - special birthday pancakes

Trip to target to pick out a special birthday gift - a horse but not picture.

Cake and ice cream at home with everyone

I think this is 1 happy 3 year old!

Then the day after - Miss Sophie took the girls to Chuck E Cheese for a special birthday trip.  More fun!

Boston

I don't post much about work but this time I just had too... my boss invited the entire team to Boston for a team meeting and summer party at his house with lobster.  Now I don't normally eat much lobster but decided it's won't get any fresher than this and it's my boss... so I tried it.  Well the lobster was bigger than my head and I ate more than I thought I would - but no way I was ever going to finish it.  I was surprised that a couple of the guys did finish their about 2 pound  lobster! Woah!

But had a great time handing out with my new team and getting to know them!
