Just a trickle

Ryan headed to Indy to play in an annual golf outing - Wakerstyne (or something like that)... and I stay home with Joey.  After getting lots done during the weekend, all I can think about it a nice hot shower!  So I turn on the water and just a trickle comes out!  So I turn off all the air conditioners (since we have geo-thermal and it runs by circulating water throughout)... and come back to the shower... still just a trickle.  I'm getting really frustrated now and decide to not take a shower or rather the shower decides that for me.  So I text Ryan in frustration and he says he will have to look at it when he gets home.

Well low and behold, our water pump is broke.  Of course it is!!  3 weeks after moving it!  Really?!  So Ryan finds a water guy to come out and look at it.  And decides it can be fixed for like $300 but will most likely need to be replaced in a year ago, or we can just put a whole new one in for $1,000.  So Ryan opts or the new one.  No sense in continually fixing something that's broken!

But really excited to have water pressure!!

Lake House Renovation

Time to start working on fixing up the lake house so we can sell it and downsize to only one house.  Luckily for us, Ryan's family decided to come up and help!  Lots of demo on Saturday and then more prep work on Sunday.  In just a few short days lots of progress has been made but much more to come.  Ryan's parents  stayed to the week to work on the house while we were at work.  Ryan says they love that stuff and I hope so because they did a lot of work!  But finally it's starting to look like a new place - why are we selling it again?!  Haha!

But some great before, during and after pictures of all the changes.

Before any updates
 New paint and wainscoting
 New carpet
New paint in the dining area and carpet in the sunroom
Removed the frig and replaced with more storage
 Fixing the garage
 Working hard
Thank you so much to Mom & Dad Delaney!!

Great Day!

It began like your typical Wednesday, except that I decided to take the day off and unpack and try and find out new house.  After a trip to the bank, Wal-Mart, Ikea, the Post Office, Holiday Market and Pittsfield Township, I was finally heading home to begin the madness.  I spent the entire day unboxing items, trying to find a spot for them and doing laundry (washing machine upstairs and about 50 years old, new dryer downstairs).  So needless to say, I had gotten my exercise.  Ryan had been texting me throughout the day – which is normal.  Asked if I was okay… and I kept saying I was doing great – boxes were disappearing and I was starting to feel at home.

Then about 4:45 pm, Ryan came home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.  I was so excited.  But he does every now and then so I thought nothing of it.  I then gave Ryan the project of putting together our new night stand from Ikea that matches the existing one – so now we have his and her’s.  While he did that, I prepared one of our favorite meals… Taco Wednesday (long story there – it used to be Taco Tuesday, but do to some unplanned events – it became Taco Wednesday).  So we decided to eat dinner and then go to Sam’s because I signed us up to be members because it’s only 2 miles from the house and then when we get back take Joey for a walk down the lane.  As we are getting ready to eat dinner, Ryan asked if we wanted to chill some wine or something.  I said, nah – I’m good.  He also asked if we still had that other bottle of champagne… and I said yes, we will have to have it this weekend with your parents.

So off to Sam’s we go.  We buy all kinds of things – mostly things we probably didn’t need, but it’s Sam’s and that’s what you do.  As we are loading the truck, a Red Bull splits open – made us laugh!  And then as we are pulling out, I say – it’s official!  We have a house together and a Sam’s Club membership together.  We get home, unload the truck and ask Joey if he wants to go for a walk and he gets all excited… so we head down the lane hand in hand, and dog marking his territory the whole way.  We get to the back (not eaten alive my mosquitoes) and explore around… I plan where my garden will go and we say we need to hide a key for the barns out here so we don’t get out there one day without keys.

Then we turn around to start walking back to the house.  I’m a little ahead of Ryan and I assume he’s admiring the barns or something.  Then he catches up with me and kisses me and hugs me.  He said we are home and that he can’t wait to raise a family here some day.  (Me still totally clueless as we talk about that stuff a lot).  He then says, and this is why I need to do this.  I start tearing up and say, “Are you really going to do this?”  And he says yes and gets down on one knee and says, “Abbey Ewald, will you marry me?”  And I now in tears, say “Yes!”  And we hug and kiss!  And he puts the most beautiful ring in the world on my ring and we hug and kiss some more… and then the mosquitoes find us (I think Ryan got like 3 bites in 30 seconds).  So we walk down the lane hand in hand with ring toward the house – smiling from ear to ear!

I tell him he was pretty sneaking with that.  He had picked the ring up earlier that day and had it in his cargo shorts pants pocket the whole time.  I totally wasn’t expecting it to happen that night and I love the fact that he was able to surprise me.

We came into the house and opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate.  Then the calling of the families began.  I called my mom and asked her to Skype me so I could show her my new curtains and she did… and I asked if Mary was there and she said yes and dad too… and then I flashed them the ring!  They were so excited!  Then on to Julie… also ecstatic!  Next, Ian who was in New Jersey for work and was the only one that knew he was going to ask that night.  So excited and then Jen texted us that she was glad to have me as part of the family.  And lastly, Ryan’s parents were so super excited as well!  They welcome me to the family with open arms!  We are thinking a small and intimate summer wedding in Arcadia would be perfect.

I am so excited!  Can’t wait to be Mrs. Delaney!

Old "New" Lawn Mower

Holy cow!  Do we have a lot of grass!?!!  Luckily Dad came to the rescue and brought down Uncle Norman's old mower.  It's got a 6 foot deck on it!  And mows quite nicely.  Saved us a lot of money, considering we still have to sell the lake house.

Closing Day

It's official!  We bought the farm!  Not the kind the kind that's 6 feet under, but 7.5 acres in Pittsfield Township.  This is the house we plan to raise our family in and live happily ever after.  Is that too much to ask?

Moving day has already started and will go through the weekend.  It's going to be a long weekend!  But we will finally be home.
