Greta's 5 years old

"My best birthday ever" that's what Greta said all day!

We started the day off with presents!

And then breakfast at IHOP.  She cupcake pancakes!

Then a special shopping trip to Target to redeem some of her birthday coupons.  She had a great time!  And picked out a Batgirl Barbie, a pretend birdie in a cage, and a new outfit for sunshine.  Oh and little hatchimals to share.

Then home for the big birthday surprise!  Her face was priceless!  And she was speechless.  I don't think I've ever heard her like that.  It was permagrin!

Then pizza and a candle in her breadstick and fun with K&K.  Then more playing.

5 years of being of mom

It’s hard to believe that 5 years ago I became a mom. It was one of the hardest and most rewarding moments of my life. I can remember every minute of the fifty hours leading up to it but the moment I saw her time stood still. She was the most perfect gift from God.

And now 5 years later, being a mom is still the hardest, most rewarding job God has ever given me. He has trusted me with one of His children, and I truly feel blessed.

Greta challenges me daily - to live in the moment, to be patient (I try really hard), and to always try to be a good example. I’m not a perfect mom but I am the perfect mom for Greta.

She is my mini me and I can’t wait to see the amazing things she will accomplish this year.  I love her more than words can say.

From then til now, she’s my baby - Greta Anne!

Easter egg hunt

A little chilly this morning but we braved the cold and headed to Dexter for an Easter egg hunt with our friends. Gretas BFF - Aubrielle.

Peace Lutheran is a great church - lots of great kids there and they put in a great event. Music. Puppet show. Egg hunt. Candy and more candy. And then lunchs we finished with playing on the playground until the parents were too cold.

Some much needed sunshine

It’s not quite warm yet but we were blessed with some warm sunshine this weekend. So nice! We played outside lots. Looked for the mysterious woodpecker, we can’t find.

It’s amazing how much just a little sun will make you feel. Now bring on the warm weather!

My little swimmers

Greta and Lola are loving swimming lessons. Lola loves he water and is a ham during lessons. Hoping by the summer she can actually swim a bit.

And Greta is getting really good. Can’t wait to watch her this summer. I’ll have a lot of confidence in her.

Homework

I’ve started working with Greta on her writing and sounds and reading. Juluevstsrted asking her questions of things her kids would do in preschool and Greta struggled.

So homework for the Greta. Lola Yoo but onlybcuz she asks and wants to do everything Greta does.

Also while i traveled last week mom worked a lot with her.

We are among lots of process and I’m proud she asks for it now. She also worked super hard on this - after tracing all the letters she starting drawing pictures for each one - all on her own. Then she and Ryan worked on it for quite a while!

Morning hair

I have no words to describe this picture of Lola when she woke up. Hsircstanding straight up and I mean literally and in all directions.

Moms birthday

A quick trip up to Unionville to celebrate moms birthday. And also to see my sweet nephew,, who is pretty much the cutest.

And the girls aren’t light packers... here they are all ready.

We also got Ryan and Ian’s deer and brought them back. I added deer heads to my list of thing I never want to drive with in my car again. So weird!

God’s Work

I shed a tear in church today. During children’s church at the end they always close with prayer. And today when I looked down, both girls were quietly sitting, hands folded and listening to the prayer. Greta even looked back at me and smiled proudly. It made my heart smile.

It was just one of those moments where you know you’re doing something right.
