Feeling like a bad mommy

Greta had a pretty good week.. until Friday.  I was on a conference call and Bemis Farms came up on my phone... I thought oh no, she's sick!  Well I would have taken that over the call I got.  Greta bit another kid... this time so hard that they had to call to make sure she was up on her vaccinations because it broke the skin... through the kid's shirt.  Then after, said "Boo Boo.  I bite!"

I was mortified!  I didn't know what to say.  Miss Jeanette also said she had been very aggressive again today, being grabby and hitting.,  Again, mortified!  So after a long talk with her teacher and then again after school, she said to just keep reinforcing that teeth are for eating and not biting people.  Ugh! My kid has turned into a little vampire.

That little stinker is smart though... as we drove home and I talked to her about it, I could literally see her ignoring me and not answering.  Then she did the same at home.  She knew what she did was not nice.

I don't want to have the kid that's the biter and definitely not the parent of the kid who hits other kids.  I know kids bite, and she's at that age, but I still feel horrible and embarrassed.  And completely clueless what to do.  Trying to reinforce the positive.  Give her lots of love.   If all else fails, I may attempt to bite her this weekend so she knows how it feels but really don't want to have to do that. Let's hope this is just a phase and passes quickly.

Such a ham

Greta is saying for many new words and doing so many new things.  She can be quite the card!

Her favorite word is "alright."  And says it with some sas!  Allll-right!

Puddle Jumping

Greta loves the water - doesn't matter what or where it is - she loves is.  Well lucky for us we got lots of rain and there where lots of puddles.

And she had a blast!!  And of course fell in too!

Rough week for Greta

Greta is a definitely a creature of habit.  After being without mommy for 4 days and taking a few days off of daycare, her last three days of the week were rough.

The morning after I got back she didn't want me to leave her for a minute.  I literally had to put her shoes on with her kicking and screaming.  That day at day care she bit a kid.  When they showed it to her, she said bite.  Then when I was talking to her about it after school, I asked her if she bit someone and she said yes. And then told me who.  Now I'm not sure if that's really who she did bite (since day care can't say) but another sign she's too smart.  We then talked about that it's not being nice and we don't bite.  She also was randomly hitting people on the head.

Next day, she went to the blue room (which is the next group up).  They said she didn't do too bad but had a couple melt downs.

Then today, she was back in her normal room.  She had another rough day.  Tried to bit a couple kids and the teacher, but luckily failed.  Then had a major melt down during breakfast, where they finally unbuckled her and let her lay on the floor crying.  The teacher told her she could come back when she was ready.  A few minutes later she brought the teacher her bib and said bib on.  And joined the party.

So when I arrived to pick her up, the teacher and I had a nice talk.  Ugh!  So new plan, Greta won't do full day visits to the big kid room - maybe she's learning bad habits or just too different of an environment.  Also need to reinforce that our teeth are for eating and not biting people.  I told her that I was okay with doing whatever she felt was best for Greta.

This is the first trip that I think she actually realized I was gone and then was mad at me when I got home.  She hasn't wanted to go to day care, wants me to be by her at all times, and has been having lots of melt downs. Hopefully after some quality time together this weekend, we can get back to normal.

Traveling bites

I've been lucky enough on my few business trips to take Greta with me... well this time it just didn't work.  So off to Washington DC I went alone and Grandmother and Granddad came to help out Ryan.  I left on Saturday and didn't get home until late Tuesday night... way too long to be without her.

I did get to see some of DC - my first time there.

And Greta had a great time while I was gone... think she missed me a little though :-)

Children's museum

Before my big trip to Washington DC for 4 days, Ryan and I took Greta to the Ann Arbor Chikdrens Museum. So fun! She loved it. All new things to look at, play with and explore. It was awesome just watching her amazement at everything.

They had s special room for kids 4 and under, which was great! Her favorite was definitely the water stuff - she stood there moving the sea creatures around, feeling the water come out, dumping it. Luckily we survived without getting too wet.

She also get to play a piano on the floor and did some dancing and jumping.

Also need to remember, Friday afternoon was a great time to go. There was hardly anyone in there so lots of room to lay.

Will definitely go back!

Changing every day

Seems like every day Greta is changing... Way too fast in my opinion. New words, gestures, facial expressions, things she can do. I just want to freeze her and let her be little just a little longer.

Brown out, black out, darn DTE

Well we survived a bad storm but as a result got a brown out. Ugh! All weekend, low voltage which meant running on a generator. Thankfully Monday morning we got it back but day care was still without power...

So Aunt Mary to the rescue!  Greta and her had a great day! Love seeing how she interacts with different people and says Aunt Mary. So cute!
