First family day out

A little bit of a spontaneous trip, but Greta needed a hair cut something horrible since she won't let me put ponies or a clippy in her hair.  So we packed up the whole family (and I have to say I only had a small diaper bag) and off to get Greta's hair cut and if we were up for it a trip to Target.

Greta was super excited about her hair cut and did great.  Sat real still and looks so much older for some reason now.

Then we headed to Target and did some serious damage. Clothes, pool toys, food, you make it, we bought it.  And I'm happy to say, no accidents, no leaking and no crying happened.  (Way better than my first trip to Target alone with Greta when I had to buy new clothes for her by the end because she had pooped through so many - lol).

First few days at home

August 10
Home from the hospital - less than 36 hours after delivering. Was both good and bad to be home.

Aunt Julie and Uncle Jason came to visit

August 11

Greta loved Lola and loves giving her kisses

First sponge bath - Lola did not enjoy it at all.

August 12

  • Broke down and had to pump to relieve pressure - but really going to try and not do it as much.  Hoping I can survive on only once a day.
  • Greta and mom went on a shopping adventure (for new underwear for Greta - who's all potty trained now)
  • Lola went on her first walk with daddy, Greta and Grandma

  • Mom chauffeured me and Lola to her first check up - dr said she's perfect :-) Weight 8 lbs and 2 ounces. Now we don't have to go back until her 2 week check up.
  • Mom left after dinner
  • I had to wake Lola up to eat - Slept from 9:30 - 2:30 and then from 3:00 - 5:30
  • Greta own bed from 8:45 to almost 7

August 13
  • First day on our own and we survived.  Greta struggled a little and was starting to realize there is competition in the house, but not even sure it was competition that bothered her so much as that mommy can't do as much with her right now.  And that makes me feel like a horrible mommy.  But we are managing and I think Greta is getting used to it a bit more.
  • Aunt Mary and the kids came over to visit and help out a bit.  Also to swim in the pool which is ready to go.  Ryan was the first in and then Karle and then Kahle.  Greta and I put our toes in - that's about all I can do.  But felt nice.

  • Lola had her first blow out here she needed a wardrobe change.
  • Papa stopped over on his way back from his trip.  Greta was soooo excited to see him.  I let her stay up just for it and I think dad and Greta were both happy.  Greta put on the charm and hammed it up.
  • Lola slept from 9:30 - 3:00 and then from 3:30 - 6:00
  • Greta woke up about 1:30 and I heard her so I went to get her and found her in the nursery laying on the floor.  Got her back in bed and asleep in about 10 minutes.  Not too bad.
Very smiley

Everyone Meets Lola

Sunday was a whirl wind of a day.  Everyone came to meet Sweet Lola, including Greta.  Which I have to say was one of the best moment. She came in very proud, wearing her big girl shirt, and the biggest smile on her face.  I wasn't sure how she'd react to me being all hooked up to meds and in a bed, but she did great.  And was super excited to meet her new little sister.

Ryan captured it all on video.

Here are a few other pictures of Lola meeting the family (a few missing ones that were there but no photo evidence - Aunt Mary, Uncle Scott, Kahle and Papa too)

Our family :-)

The newest Delaney

And right on schedule but not as scheduled.... Lola Jane made her grand entrance right on her due date... August 8th weighing in at 8 lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long.

Wednesday during my doctor appointment after being told I was still at 0 everything o decided to schedule s c- section for Wednesday the 12th just in case nothing happened. Well luckily it did. Thursday I worked from home. Nothing. Friday I went into the office and was feeling a little off. We only worked to lunch so I took advantage and went shopping at target. Starting feeling a little more something's. But didn't want to get my hopes up. Then Friday night more something's and finally around 2:00 am o started monitoring the something's. And my 6:00 am decided I better call the dr and Mary to come over.

After no call back from the back and Mary arriving, we headed to the hospital. Found out I was dialated to 1 and my water has broke. So after taking to the dr we decided to do a c-section. When getting prepped, stuff started happening and I dialated to a 4 and dr said we could def try to do this. So I agreed but with an epidural. And wow did that help.

By 2:00ish I was already a 9 1/2 and almost there, despite the baby being sunny side up. And unfortunately never moved any further. So by 10:30 we were back to the original plan and getting prepped for the c-section. And in the end made the right decision.

Because at 11:25 pm the sweetest cry was head and Ryan announced to me, it's a girl!! I was so happy. And after seeing her  we decided she was definitely a Lola. And as I got stitched back up, they left me go skin to skin with her and she immediately tried to start nursing. Best feeling ever!

By 2:30 am we were in our room getting settled. After more feeding, Lola headed to the nursery for a bath and do Ryan and I could try and sleep. Ryan got some and I was so excited and happy, I just couldn't. So I watched the clock and hours pass before they brought her back.

And so our adventure began!

Family Reunion

After getting permission from the doctor, we headed to Caseville for my family reunion - Ewald / Gremel.  And I'm glad we did.  It was great seeing everyone and not sure when we'll all get together like that again.  Being 39 weeks pregnant made it a little risky and challenging but everything went great and Greta had a blast.  She even went on her first jet ski ride with Aunt Mary... actually went on it twice - and LOVED it!

Greta and Mommy's special day

So I wanted to do something special with Greta before the baby comes and decided today would be s great day for it. So I took the day off and planned s fun day.

First we went to the Farm Center at Kensington Park. Loved it. For the first 30+ minutes we were the only ones there. Nice clean place, great walk on path, and good animals - except for the chicken who may or may not have gotten a little of Greta's finger... Or who maybe just scared her.

Video to come...

Then we headed to the mall to go to build a bear to make her a special something and let her make a special something for the new baby. Not too surprising she picked a pony.... A purple my little pony. And helped stuff it and put a heart in it.

Patiently waiting...

Then we did the same with the bunny she picked for the baby.

Next we had to give them a bath...

Great experience! And great customer service. The girl who helped us was wonderful.

And I had a proud mommy moment, when the girl - whose name was Abby- asked Greta what her name was... A little coxing and she told her. Then Abby asked how to spell it and I said go ahead.. G... And Greta proceed to say Greta... No problem! Yeah Greta!

Then off to pick out new shoes because I was quite certain she'd outgrown hers... And yup up a whole size! But what fun she had picking out and trying on shoes. She would put them on and then run down the aisle. She finally picked a dressy pair of Minnie Mouse hot pink ones. and I got the tennis shoes that she needed.

After a quick lunch of spaghetti at the mall and a few more stores... It was time to go home. And it didn't take long for this to happen...

So glad I got to spend this time with her!

Happy birthday Karle

I can't believe it but my first and only niece turned 10! I can remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. It was the best and most exciting day I'd experienced to take date :-) and when I first laid eyes on her, I was in love. She was perfect. And now at 10 years old she's grown into quite
