Delaney Christmas 2018

This year for Christmas the Delaney's came to our house, and a great time was had.

A surprise trampoline for the girls that we kept hidden until Saturday morning and then were going for a big surprise, but Greta say it through the kitchen door.  The kids loved it - well until a bloody nose happened but all good.

Bowling fun and even more fun because I won!  But the kids and adults had a great time.

And of course singing around the Christmas tree.  I was very proud of Greta who asked everyone their favorite song and then made a list.  We all decided we couldn't sing Frosty the Snowman anymore until we learn the words - haha!

What a wonderful time together!

Thanksgiving in Greenwood

We packed up the car, and headed to Greenwood to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Delaney's.  What used to be a quick trip, has now turned into at least a one stop trip.  This time had lots more excitement and not the good kind.  Greta got sick and puked about half way into the trip.  UGH!  And she definitely wasn't happy about it and I don't blame her.  Lots of tears and crying.  And of course it happened when there wasn't an exit with anything for several miles.  So I cleaned her put the best I could in the care and we drove on to finally find a a Cracker Barrel to stop at.  New clothes.  Windows cracked to air out the car.  Car seat wiped down (would need to be washed at their house).
Ate a quick lunch - Greta at some pancakes and kept them down.  I fed Lola and off we went.

The rest of the weekend was much more fun and no more puking.  Rebecca made a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner that we enjoyed on Saturday.  Then enjoyed some sunshine with a walk around the block.  Watched a little football.  And lots of playing.

Oh and a trip to a store called Rural King, which was like a giant Tractor Supply.  Luckily we need to get back to eat or we might have spent hours and probably lots of money there.

Sunday we hit the road at after breakfast.  No puking this time on the way home, but we did stop for lunch and discovered that Lola had a blow-out.  MAJOR!  Through all her clothes. No so easy to change that in a bathroom changing table but we managed.  Then fed her, we ate, and back on the road again.  We made it home in time to finish all the laundry and get bottle made for a few days and the house picked up a little.

Let the partying begin

The Christmas adventure began on Friday, December 21 and finally wrapped up on Saturday, December 29th.  Needless to say, I think we were both partied and traveled out. 

First trip was to Fort Wayne to hang with Ian and Jen and the boys and deliever their large present - a sandbox!  A nice break to the drive to Greenwood which we started Saturday morning.  Then the partying began.  The Greenwood friends all came over to the house for a Christmas celebration and it was great to see everyone.  Great food and friendship.

Sunday, we enjoyed a nice relaxing day with some Colts football and then a big Christmas dinner with Frikadeller, a Danish meatball of sorts, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, rolls, green bean casserole and more.  So yummy and filling.  Dessert was postponed until later when we had room.  We burned off a few calories by dancing around the Christmas tree and opening a few gifts.  I also got my first lesson in making aebleskiver, another Danish recipe that arel like pancakes in ball.

Christmas Eve was filled with breakfast and then more presents!  Ryan and I loaded up and hit the road about 12:30 to come back home for a night, go to church and regroup before the second half of Christmas. 

Ryan and I celebrated our first Christmas as husband and wife with a nice filet dinner and some sparkling cidar.  We opened gifts and enjoyed the quiet for a few moments before heading to candlelight church service.  We realized the Christmas Eve church at 10:00 pm doesn't fill up like St. Paul - we arrived nice and early and then sat in the car and waited for a few more people to show up before heading in. 

Then bright and early... well like 7:30 we work up to load up again and head to Unionville for lunch and Julie and Jason's with all you can each perch.  And man did we eat!  Not sure we ever really got hungry again for the rest of the day, despite eating some more snacks.  Then over to mom's for present opening.  Her and dad outdid themselves again and we felt very blessed.  Baby D did quite well including a crib, a RAD Farms onsie and a Lakke Ewald Farms onsie and much more. 

Day after Christmas was celebrated with Reicks.  Always love seeing them and hanging out.  It's so great that they are back in Michigan (well kind of), but we just hung out and caught up and relaxed.  I also got my first lesson in making donut dough - which will go great since Mom got me a deep fryer!

Day 2 post Christmas, a party at Dad's with the Ewalds.  More yummy food and this time lots of Echre - which I might add the cousins won both games.  We still have it despite not having played all together in quite some time.

The Day 3 post Christmas, we headed home nice and early to take Joey to the vet to get his stiches out and unload.  Day 4 post Christmas, I headed back to Saginaw for Uncle David's Christmas festivities.  Great to see everyone, but my social skills were wearing thin and I was ready to be home for an entire day.

But regardless... we got to see lots of friends and family and celebrate our last Christmas as 2.  Next year will bring a whole new meaning to Christmas.

Delaney Thanksgiving

A wonderful weekend in Greenwood for Thanksgiving with lots to be thankful for.  Amazing loving family.  Great conversation.  Wonderful food.  Beautiful fall weather.  Good traffic on the way home.  A healthy baby on the way (ultrasound went good).  Loved spending an early Thanksgiving weekend with the Delaney's.

Delaney Fall Family Fun

A great fall weekend with the Delaney family.  They all drove up Friday night to to spend the weekend and it was so great to see everyone.  Friday to hung out at the house and had some dinner - a much less than desired (looks wise) crock pot lasagna (see my other post).  It tasted great once you took out the chared noodles.  Then Saturday, we all got ready and headed to Three Cedars Farms in Northville for some fall fun.  And it was great.  The boys (little and big) had lots of fun... and the girls did too.  We saw animals, went down the slides, rode John Deere tractors, ate yummy donuts with cidar and then went on a hay ride to pick a pumkin.  And Evan found a great big one.

The rest of the day we relaxed and hung out watching football and eating.  Sunday we had another great breakfast before Ian and Jan and clan headed home and we spent the rest of the day watching football with mom and dad Delaney and playing outside with Miller.

A great way to end a great weekend!

Fort Wayne Day Trip

It had been far to long since we'd see Ian, Jen and the boys... so we packed it up and headed to Fort Wayne for the day and I'm so glad we did.  The boys are getting so big and it was great to hang out with Ian and Jen for the day and catch up.  Oh and the pool didn't hurt either.  And everyone got to meet Miller.  Great day all around!
