Lola’s 3rd basketball game

Lolas rec team is young and new to the game but they love the game. Unfortunately the other teams have been way more experienced than ours and lots bigger and score board hasn’t been our friend. But yesterday - even though I had to miss - Lola played hard and scored our teams only basket. She’s definitely going to be a baller! And she loves to play!

Lola’s Young 5s Graduation

Lolas moving on up! We were lucky enough to have a little celebration for the Young 5s to wrap up their first year. A cute photo booth, cupcakes and ice cream, a song and a graduation certificate. 

Lola made some great  new friend and I’m certain shes going to do great in kindergarten. 

I also got to see Lola’s teacher for the first time without a mask. It was great to finally chat with her.

Very proud of Lola! And although I wasn’t surprised her teacher said she’s far above young 5s. She knows all her letters upper and lower case and all their sounds. She can count to 50 and probably higher but they stopped her there. She’s good in the classroom and can comprehend what’s being read to her (when asked to draw a picture of what happened).

Back to virtual

And just like that we are back to fully virtual. Both girls are pretty sad and say they will miss school abs seeing their friends. I will miss those 2 days if the week when the house is pretty quiet. 

Horseback riding lessons

With so many sports not happening, the girls have started up horseback riding lessons just down the road and are loving it! Greta really wants to learn to ride and jump. Lola just loves helping take care of the horses and learning to ride. 

Mandy, their trainer, says both girls are quite comfortable on the horse and Greta has confidence riding. 

Happy 5th Birthday Lola!

One whole hand! How is that possible!? Lola celebrated her birthday tie dye style with some friends over on Friday and then grandma and papa on her big day. 

She brings so much joy and light to our lives. She’s super silly, a little stubborn, a great big sister, smart as a whip, and a whole lot of sass! Happy birthday Lola! We love you!

Lola has mastered swimming! And yesterday she had a huge first... she swam to the bottom of the deep end. Super proud of her! 

Middle child Lola

I think of all the changes Lola has had the hardest adjustment. She went from being my baby and Anaya’s getting what she wanted to stick in the middle. Being a middle child myself I get it but also feel it made me work harder. And I am already seeing this in Lola both good and bad working hard. 

She’s loud ... always trying to get attention away from Greta and Nora. 

She’s silly... trying to get a laugh from anyone.

She’s crazy... doing things Greta never would have at her age. 

She’s kind... always apologizes when she does something wrong. 

She’s cuddly... constantly wants to be close to you or on you. 

She’s determined... wanting to be a big girl and often keeping up. 

She’s helpful... willing to help me with stuff because she wants one on one time. 

This maternity leave I was looking forward to spending time with her without Greta. Unfortunately that didn’t happen but we are making it and Lola will excel - I’m certain of that.

Back at it! Lola started swimming lessons back up and she did awesome. Teacher said she won’t be at this level too much longer.

Lola the middle child

Lola is getting adjusted to being a middle child. She loves being a big sister and she loves Nora.  But sharing me has been challenging and she gets a little more emotional, especially when it’s bed time. I still haven’t been able to put her to bed and she misses this time. 

Her new schedule has her home with me Tuesday's and Fridays - I’ve been trying to do more with her when Nora is sleeping or putting her in her chair. And I think Lola likes that. We also do some reading after feeding Nora. 

It’s crazy how fast Lola is growing up. I just want time to slow down!

Christ Our King Christmas Program

So proud of both girls at the Christmas program. Lola had 1 like and Greta had 3 and both did great. They also sang lots of songs and knew all the words.

New haircuts

Great he been begging to get her hair cut short again, and we were finally able to come to an agreement on how short. 

Lola also got a nice trim up. Her hair is getting so lit but quite fine. 

Survived 2019 Soccer Season

Well I survived another year of coaching soccer... this year both girls’ teams, while about 5 months pregnant. I had lots of fun though. 

Lola’s team was great. All girls - which I’m way better at coaching - and good fun attitudes. We even played a game at the end and the girls did great. Lola ven scored. I think she’s going to do just fine in sports. 

This year great moves up to U8 and did great too. She found her speciality which is defense I think and was force to be recon with. Our team overall didnt do the best, only winning 1 game but we improved each week and I hope they had fun. 

Now to see if I finally hang up my hat coaching Greta. I’ll for sure do Lola again. 

First day of Pre-K

Happy Mother’s Day 2019

When you become a mother, your entire world changes. You find out what truly being selfless means. You find out what laughing and crying at the same time is like. You find out how to get through the day when you’re sleep deprived and exhausted. And you find out what unconditional love is. 

But you know what else you find out - how to laugh. So I thought I’d share a few of my favorite funny motherhood memories - well they are funny now anyway.

1) Figuring out how to use a breast pump - doesn’t seem hard but looking back it was maybe the funniest time.

2) Getting puked on. This never gets old and really isn’t funny but I’d catch their puke any day if it could make them feel better.

3) Lola’s blow out at my work - all over my pants - in my boss’s office

4) How they mispronounce words - my favorite was Greta saying com-marshmellow for commercial. We still giggle about it today

5) When Lola dumped sprinkles all over the kitchen and was playing in them

And so many more that I can’t think of - part of motherhood not remembering everything. 

You also find your tribe of moms to help you. I am a firm believer it take a village and I’m so happy with the moms in mine. They love my kids and that’s what matters to me. Oh and maybe if they are fun and like the occasional glass of wine helps too! 

So as I continue on this adventure called motherhood - I have to remind myself to enjoy it. Be in the moment. And live! 

So to the ones that made me a mommy - I love you.

Influenza takes down 3 of 4

It all started ok Friday, April 4th and lastest through the 13th. Longest week ever!

First victim - Lola. Diagnosis on Saturday morning. Positive for influenza A. Fever 104.  Feel better date and no fever for 24 hours, Friday April 12th. 

Next victim - Greta. Started Monday, April 8th. Fever 102.5.  Feel better date with no fever for 24 hours, Friday April 12th 

Finally victim - me. Started Tuesday, April 9th evening. Fever 103.  Feel better date with no fever for 24 hours, Sunday, April 14th.

Ryan was in quarantine upstairs and remained healthy. 

Dentist Appointments for the Girls

Successful dentist appointments for all of us Delaney girls! It was Lola’s first real visit and she was so proud to sit in the chair and open her mouth. Teeth looked great! Gretas went about the same. I also love (or don’t love) their honesty that they don’t always brush at night or don’t floss a lot. LOL. But it’s all good. Still zero cavities. 

Highlight of the visit was that our favorite hygienist Amy said Greta has a tooth that is a hair wiggly. Oh boy - the excitement on her face. Amy said she really had to work at it but it’s a ever so slightly wiggly.

First Ice Skating

With no real plans on Christmas Eve, we decided it would be a great day to go ice skating.  Greta has been asking for a while.  We invited our friends and made a morning of it.  Open skate started at 9:15 and the we all lasted until 10:35 when it ended.  

It was also my first time ice skating... skated right out with no problems.  Both girls also did great and by the end Greta wasn't even using the walker.

Look forward to going again!

Church Christmas Program 2018

One of my favorite times at Christmas is hearing the children put on a Christmas program.  I used to love when Karle and Kahle were little and would sing and speak their parts.  So much joy in them.

So when Greta had her first 2 years ago - it was so fun.  And this year was Lola's first and she performed!  At just 3, she is by far the youngest in her class but that didn't stop here at all.

Greta sang 2 songs and Lola sang 1 with her.

And they both had speaking parts.  They had been practicing them all week but when we practiced at church, neither would say them so I was skeptical whether they actually would.  But let me tell you when Greta said her part - I was beaming with pride.



And then when Lola said her part, I literally almost cried tears of joy. She was so sweet and confident.  Where did my baby go?



What a joyous day!

Cousin Fun

Karle and Kahle are great big cousins.  They play with the girls.  They love them.  They listen to them.  They pay attention to them.  And it was a great week for them.

We went and watch Karle play volleyball - they didn't win, but Greta and Lola had a great time.  And Karle gave Greta a volleyball which she has been playing with a lot.

Then this weekend the kids came over and watched the girls while my mom and I went to the football game.  I had them bathed, fed and in PJs so K&K just had to get them to sleep, which they did with no problems.

Then Sunday - Greta and Lola had a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese - so K&K got to come along!  I think everyone had LOTS of fun and played lots of games and won lots of tickets - which they let the girls have and pick out some toys.  Very sweet.  Karle even used some of her money from grandma to buy drinks for us - great kids!
