Happy Halloween!

OGretas first Halloween was cold and rainy. Good thing we were safe and warm inside. Pumpkin carving and costume modeling were the extent if our evening.

Our sweet bumble bee

And my favorite... Our ill pumpkin

Plus Ryan and I carved pumpkins too... Greta enjoyed playing with the guys and even tasted some. All good fun!

Trick or treat

Well since Greta's class is too young for candy or cupcakes... I decided to take advantage of the over abundance if pumpkins we have and make little gifts for all her friends and teachers.

Sugar beet harvesting

Well the day after we got back from Paris, mom told me dad was finishing up sugar beets that day. Well I really wanted to see and ride in the new harvester or a quick spontaneous decision after church and Greta and I were off to Unionville. And I'm glad we went. The new harvester is quite a sight and Greta got her first ride with papa.

She loved it!

Teething?

Well I think it's happening and if course days before we leave in our trip. I think Greta's teething. But I'm not 100% sure. She's not been sleeping well and very opinionated at day care but I still don't feel anything or see any swollen gums. Just to be safe, I bought lots of orogel - day and nightime and Tylenol to take with us.

Time will tell. And here's  hoping for a good night sleep for all. And tonight I'm breaking one of my rules - no babies in bed. But I'm no good at sleeping in our chair and mama needs sleep to be good at her job - lol. What can I say - I've been spoiled with an excellent sleeper!

New discoveries

Greta has discovered her tongue. And I have to say it's quite funny. She's always sticking it out or out to the side. Licking her lips. Discovering it all. So if you see her and she sticks her tongue out at you - take it as a sign she likes you.

Sweet potatoes

Food #3 for Greta... Yummy sweet potatoes. Peeled one and then cubed it. Then out it in a ziplock steamer bag. 6 minutes later, ready to mash. Divided it up into smaller containers and then mix the one for dinner that night with a little breastmilk. No surprise... She loves it!

Happy half Birthday Greta!

My beautiful baby girl turned 6 months today and not a day goes by that I don't love her more and more.

Stats: Weight - 18 lbs. 9 1/2 ounces (90th percentile); Height - 26 1/2 inches (74th percentile); Head - 17 1/2 inches (92th percentile)

Top 10 of the month
1. Started eating food and has had avacados and bananas do far.
2. Can move around - rolling and a little scooting on her back.
3. Has a voice and knows how to use it - various different tones and squeals and cries.
4. Can sit up all by herself with few tip overs.
5. Loves watching her doggies and likes to pull out their hair.
6. Loved to pull mommys hair.
7. Wears pretty much all 9 month clothes.
8. Is such a happy baby according to day care (and us too).
9. Does not care for finger painting or touching mashed up bananas.
10. Notices when mommy leaves the room

Love this baby more than life itself!

Another year older

Another birthday come and gone and I'm left wondering where the year went. But I can pretty much break the year down into 2 halves... Pregnant half and mommy half. Both halves were good but the second was amazing. A couple highlights... first time to Europe - as I had 2 trips to Belgium; Watched Michigan make it to the championship game in basketball; had my longest stay ever at the hospital; and became a mommy. Not that my life doesn't exist anymore but it definitely now revolves around Greta. (I didn't even have a picture of me on my birthday to post - lol :-(

Update... Got a picture and another yummy birthday cake. Thanks Jules!
